NEET PG counselling for All India seats is run by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). MCC fills 50% All India Quota seats in MD, MS, PG Diploma and PG DNB courses, and 100% of the seats in central and deemed universities. The other seats in state colleges are filled through each state's own counselling. Seats are allotted online, by NEET PG rank and your choices, using the result that NBEMS sends to MCC.
In 2025, MCC's PG counselling covered 28,750 seats in 1,985 institutes, and 103,596 candidates took part.

How a round works
- Register and pay the registration fee and the refundable security deposit.
- Fill and lock choices: the courses and colleges you want, in order.
- Seat allotment by MCC, then the result on mcc.nic.in.
- Freeze or Float. New in 2026: if you are happy with your seat, choose Freeze and report at the college in person. If you want an upgrade, choose Float, give your willingness online and upload your documents; the college verifies them online.
In Round 2, MCC shows two kinds of vacancy: clear-cut seats nobody got in Round 1, and virtual seats held by Round 1 candidates who asked for an upgrade (they go to someone else only if that candidate moves up).
Rules that cost candidates money
- Round 3 seats cannot be resigned. If you are allotted a seat in Round 3 and do not join, your security deposit is forfeited and you cannot take part in later rounds.
- If you are allotted a seat in Round 2 or later and do not join, or your admission is cancelled (for example, wrong information or missing documents), the security deposit is forfeited.
- Refunds start only after all rounds are over.
- Choices cannot be changed once locked. Fees, bonds and stipends are set by each college; MCC asks candidates to check them with the college before filling choices.

Questions students ask
When is the NEET PG 2026 Round 2 result?
MCC's schedule of 29 October 2026 gives 14 November 2026 for the Round 2 result. Reporting at the allotted college runs from 16 to 23 November 2026. Always check the latest schedule on mcc.nic.in.
What is the difference between Freeze and Float?
Freeze means you keep your allotted seat and do not want an upgrade; you report physically at the college. Float means you want an upgrade in the next round; you give your willingness online and upload documents, and the college checks them online, so you do not need to visit.
Can I resign a Round 3 seat?
No. MCC's bulletin says Round 3 seats cannot be resigned. A candidate who does not join a Round 3 seat loses the security deposit and cannot take part in later rounds.
Which seats does MCC fill in NEET PG counselling?
50% All India Quota seats in MD, MS, PG Diploma and PG DNB courses, and 100% of seats in central and deemed universities. The other seats in state colleges are filled by each state's own counselling.
When is the security deposit refunded?
Only after all rounds of counselling are over, and only to the account the payment came from. MCC does not answer refund queries before that.
