CSAB Special Rounds: latest news, schedule and results

CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) runs the Special Rounds after JoSAA ends. NIT, IIIT and GFTI seats that nobody took in JoSAA are offered again, by JEE Main rank, with the same quotas, categories, PwD seats and female-only seats. In 2026 the Special Rounds covered 114 institutes: 31 NITs with IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs and 56 other GFTIs. IITs are not part of CSAB.

CSAB 2027

The CSAB 2027 schedule has not been announced yet. The Special Rounds start after the last JoSAA round, which in 2026 was in July. Every official CSAB notice will appear in the news list above within minutes.

Who can join, and what you risk

• No seat in JoSAA? You can register.
• Hold an NIT+ seat and want a better one? You can register and keep that seat while you try.
• Gave up or lost a seat (withdrawn, cancelled, or a fee not paid)? You can usually register; the brochure lists every case.
• Important: if CSAB allots you any seat, your JoSAA seat is cancelled automatically, whether or not you accept the new one.

Use the CSAB data

CSAB closing ranks are the All-India CRL on every seat, so compare them with your CRL, not your category rank. In 2026 the typical NIT seat closed about a quarter later in CSAB than in JoSAA, so a rank that missed out in JoSAA often has a real second chance here. Our CSAB guide explains every step, and the CSAB cutoff explorer shows every seat.
