Key takeaways

  • In NEET PG 2026 Round 1, AIQ General MD Radio Diagnosis seats were listed at 116 colleges in 27 states and UTs, and the typical one closed at rank 792.
  • Delhi's five colleges closed earliest, at a median of 78; among states with at least three colleges, Andhra Pradesh closed latest, at a median of 1,333.
  • 71 of the 116 listings closed within the top 1,000, and only 7 closed after rank 2,000.
  • Of 89 listings with a Round 1 rank in both years, 58 closed later in 2026 than in 2025 and 31 closed earlier.

In NEET PG 2026 Round 1, All India Quota (AIQ) General seats in MD Radio Diagnosis were listed at 116 colleges across 27 states and union territories. The typical seat closed at rank 792. Where it closed depended a lot on the state: Delhi's colleges closed at a median of 78, while the median in Andhra Pradesh was 1,333.

A later closing rank means a seat was easier to get. So a candidate ranked around 1,000 had very few options in Delhi or Kerala, but still had Radiology seats to choose from in several larger states.

How we counted

We used the Round 1 closing ranks in our seat data, which come from MCC's Round 1 allotment result.

  • Seats: MD Radio Diagnosis, AIQ quota, General (GEN) category. DNB Radio Diagnosis is a separate course and is left out.
  • Listings: one row per college. Our data has 116 such listings with a 2026 Round 1 closing rank, holding 219 seats. Each college appears once.
  • Left out: 20 more AIQ General Radio Diagnosis listings in our data had no Round 1 2026 seat or allotment, so they have no 2026 closing rank.
  • Per state: we took the median closing rank, so half of a state's listings closed earlier and half later. Medians are rounded to the nearest rank.

State by state

These are the 16 states with at least three listings, sorted by median closing rank.

Andhra Pradesh 9 13 1,333 135 2,021

The other 11 states and UTs had one or two listings each. Among them, Chandigarh closed at 110 and Haryana at 360. The two latest listings in the whole country were also in this group: Agartala Medical College in Tripura at 2,735, and NAMO MERI Government Medical College in Silvassa (Dadra and Nagar Haveli) at 3,058.

Maharashtra had the most listings (16) and the most seats (38). Its seats spread widely, from 101 to 1,905, so the state median of 806 hides a big range. Each state page, such as Maharashtra cutoffs, lists every college.

How deep the list went

  • Top 100: 7 of the 116 listings closed within rank 100. Four of them were in Delhi.
  • Top 500: 35 listings.
  • Top 1,000: 71 listings, about three in five.
  • After 2,000: 7 listings, in Telangana, Assam, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Tripura and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

The earliest closing seat was at VMMC, Delhi (rank 37). JNMC (AMU), Aligarh closed at 51 and Government Medical College, Kozhikode at 57.

Compared with 2025

89 of the 116 listings also had a Round 1 closing rank in 2025. Of these, 58 closed later in 2026 and 31 closed earlier. The median of those 89 listings moved from 581 in 2025 to 684 in 2026. So for most Radiology seats, Round 1 in 2026 reached a little further down the merit list than a year before. Some state medians in 2025 rest on only one or two listings, so we don't compare states year by year here.

The Radio Diagnosis branch page shows every college with its closing rank in each round since 2024.

What it means for Round 2

  • Round 2 starts later than first planned. MCC says Round 2 will be rescheduled from 7 November 2026, after NMC sent newly approved seats. The seat matrix page shows the Round 1 seats and allotments.
  • Round 1 is a guide, not a promise. Closing ranks usually move later in Round 2 as candidates upgrade or leave seats, but not by the same amount at every college.
  • Look beyond your nearest state. If your rank is near 1,000, the table shows that the larger states (Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat) had many listings that closed around or after that rank. Deemed universities closed much later again, as our AIQ vs deemed analysis shows.
